Darren and Cortney live in Virginia, so we scheduled their engagement session around the holidays when they would be in town visiting family. We had a great time - it was fun to see them get more comfortable during the session, and a little more daring. We are looking forward to seeing them again on Feb. 9th for their wedding!

Marilyn and Brian's Winter Wedding
We were so excited when snow was expected for Jan. 19th. Primrose Cottage is a beautiful location and it was breathtaking covered with snow. Many of the guests couldn't help but have a snowball fight on the patio during the reception. This will be one wedding that we will never forget. A big thank you to Marilyn, Brian, and the whole wedding party for braving the weather and going outdoors with us. Congratulations to you both!
The men braving the snow.
A winter wonderland.
Even the father of the bride had a blast throwing snowballs at guests.

Not One, Not Two, But Three!
Luke Dand is a friend of Matt's from high school. We were able to see him, his wife Kendra and their new family at Christmastime when we were visiting Matt's family. They wanted to have children, but God blessed them with three at once! It truly is a miracle and we admire how hard they are working and how well they have adapted. We would like you to meet Ryland, Noah, and Olivia

Italy - Part II
St. Peter's Basilica from a distance
Inside St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican
One of Michelangelo's greatest works. Could you imagine creating something like this when you were 22?
Castel Sant'Angelo and Ponte Sant'Angelo
We climbed 350 stairs for this view (I made sure Matt had the backpack for this foray). It was pretty hazy and we were a little disappointed thinking that we wouldn't have any good pictures, but this has turned out to be one of my favorites.
Inside the Vatican museum
It's true; they don't allow you to take pictures inside the Sistine Chapel. Unless you're sneaky.
Leaving the Vatican Museum
Not our most gourmet meal, but look at the view!

Italy - Part I
Here are some of the long promised Italy pictures. It was one of the best trips I have ever been on. Every time I talk to someone about it, I never do it justice. So, I give the following advice: If you ever have the chance, GO!
A rainy night far away from Georgia
The top of the Trevi Fountain
No explanation necessary.
How happy was I to be in the Colosseum!
Palantine Hill
The Roman Forum
The Pantheon (one of my favorite places in all of Rome)
A Church (I think it's Santa Maria del Sopra, but I would not bet my life on it)
The Trevi Fountain
Roma!
Matt engrossed with our favorite companion - the guide book.

A Taste of Italy
Back in Nov. Melissa and I took a ten day trip to Italy where we visited Rome and Florence. Since our return we have been sorting and reviewing the images we took while over there. It was so hard to narrow down the pictures, so we pretty much gave up and have been doing post work on almost all of them. We are about 95% done, but wanted to give you a taste of what's to come. We are going to try to break it down into several different posts, so stay tuned!
